Schools work has always been at the centre of what we do here at Trafford Youth for Christ; today it is no different. We continue to have a fully functioning schools work programme, ‘Arena’, which is a crucial part of the work.
We are well received in schools by both staff and pupils and we currently visit around 10 secondary schools in the area regularly. All our lessons follow the curriculum closely where possible and incorporate a variety of interactive teaching methods and styles. During the lessons we put across our own personal beliefs as Christians whilst at the same time giving the young people an opportunity to question what we believe and explore their own views.
Alongside this we recognise the recent government initiative of Every Child Matters and where possible seek to bring forward the five outcomes for each young person:
being healthy;staying safe;achieving in, and enjoying, life;making a positive contribution;and achieving a state of economic well being.
Trafford YFC offers a choice of over 20 lessons to schools in the area. These range from looking at images of God, the Holy Spirit or forgiveness to moral issues, abortion and friendship. Lessons are highly interactive and can be tailored to the individual class needs.
Some schools like to make use of Trafford YFC within their school assemblies. Assemblies can be in the form of a drama, game or a short talk. Please contact us for more information if you are interested in booking us for an assembly.
Lunch clubs and Christian Unions add another dimension to the work Trafford YFC do within schools. We can visit as guest speakers, help with launching new clubs or simply provide resources for staff and pupils to use.
